Objectives
In spirit of these traditions, Keio University has inaugurated KIEP
in January, 1996. The objectives of KIEP are to encourage selected people in
politics, business, science and technology, journalism and various academic
circles to come together, to exchange frank opinions and views on diverse
issues of significance, and thus to establish new paradigms at this time
of historic transition. KIEP aims at establishing an interdisciplinary,
trans-national and cross-societal forum which gives guidelines to the world
as well as Japan for the coming 21st century.
The proceedings of the Conference are expected to be published in
print and other media forms.

Theme: Digital Media and Highly-Integrated Informational Society
Date: September 20 - 22, 1996
Place: Keio University, Shonan Fujisawa Campus
(approx.120 minutes from Tokyo) and
Kamakura Prince Hotel (approx.90 minutes from Tokyo)
Objectives:
As we encounter the Internet's explosive growth, information media are
becoming more digitized everyday. The role of computers and networks is
becoming more essential for improving human life and social infrastructures.
In this program, we will explore what this digital information media
evolution means for humanity, society, and culture in the 21st century.
In particular, we will discuss the following:
1) Media Evolution and Cyber Society; 2) Media Evolution and Information
Technology; and 3) Media Evolution and the Role of Higher Educational
Institutions.
