Title:

Safecast and Fukushima Prototype

Abstract:

Safecast is a organization that aims to measure radiation worldwide by deployment of a mobile and stationary sensor network. Besides building a dedicate network, it also aims to aggregate radiation measurements through crowd sourcing and publishing data freely through CC0 license. This enable the use if the data by citizens, universities, schools, health workers and government institutions. The current focus on measuring radiation is on Fukushima by using mobile sensors and development of solutions to measure radiation with a internet based network. ‘Fuksushima Protoype’ is a Keio initiative to leverage the Safecast network in Japan by expanding the network itself and doing research on vizualition techniques, forecasting, and find ways to assist in developing counter measures to reduce radiation exposure risks.
